Great route! You end up in places you normally wouldn’t visit, and some of the questions are real brain teasers. Luckily, there’s always a hint available if you get stuck. Definitely recommended! (translated from Dutch)

Let the treasure hunt guide you through Goes, discover unexpected places, visit local businesses and solve the mystery.
‘The Lost Manuscript: Secrets of a Hidden Order’ takes you into the story of an ancient hidden order and the local rebel group that opposes it. They ask for your help and lead you past unexpected places in Goes to collect information together to unmask the hidden order. During the trip, you will get your hands on physical clues and puzzles by using the right code words at entrepreneurs who are friends with the rebels. And then there is that one crucial decision to make…
You will have to visit a number of locations where information, hints or objects need to be examined or obtained. When the game can be played therefore depends on the opening hours of these locations.
In principle, everyone from around age 16 can complete the hunt independently. But as part of a group, slightly younger children can also easily join in: they can enjoy helping to solve the puzzles and find the route, but may experience a little less of the story. The route takes into account participants in a wheelchair, or a group that includes a pram or pushchair. Dogs are also welcome.
The assignments vary, but a typical assignment contains a cryptic description of the route followed by a question that you can only answer if you have arrived at the right place. For example: “Continue in the direction of the purple elephant, turn off just before you reach a round structure and then follow the path along the water until you reach wood. If you now look to your left, what silver birds do you see emerging from the water?”
At the end of the hunt, each team receives a score consisting of two elements: how long you took to complete the hunt (breaks don’t count) and how many penalty points you have accumulated. This way you can compare your results with each other if you participate with multiple teams.
No, you may try as many answers as you like. You will not receive penalty points for a wrong answer.
Should you not understand what is expected of you for a particular question, assignment or route description, you can let us know via WhatsApp by sending the message ‘hint’. We will then send you extra hint(s). An overview of the messages you can send can be found HERE and you will also receive this overview via WhatsApp just before you start the mystery. If you are participating with multiple teams and making a competition of it, it is good to be aware that requesting hints does come at a cost: penalty points are handed out for each hint requested.
That’s not necessary: there are plenty of options to get something to drink during the mystery: you will pass restaurants, cafés and even supermarkets. Halfway through the hunt there is a built-in break at a location with plenty of hospitality options nearby, but you can pause the hunt at any moment without it counting against your time (by sending the message “pause”). Especially in hot weather, it can of course never hurt to bring some extra drinks along.
